hi! WE ARE PAUL & KAT

We are your friendly neighborhood story-tellers! We are excited to be your dream team for your wedding day or special event, and would love to share with you a little bit about our story.

Paul grew up in the Panhandle of Texas in town called Dumas (pronounced DOO-MAS, just in case you were wondering) There, he was an all state wrestler, and found his passion for visual storytelling while interning and later working for the local newspaper as a Sports writer and photographer. Paul also has a passion for cinema, literature and poetry, which led to his pursuit in a Bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and Poetry at Texas State University in 2008.

Kat, on the other hand, was a third-culture kid. Her parents served in the State Department and Army Reserves, which gave her the opportunity to travel around the world throughout her childhood. She was born in the Philippines, raised in Falls Church, Virginia, and went to school in Frankfurt, Germany and Cairo, Egypt. She loves to sing, and while abroad she was heavily involved in multiple choir and a capella groups. With them, she had the amazing opportunity to perform throughout Egypt, Luxembourg and Qatar. She was also a photographer and editor throughout high school, and quickly developed a love for documenting memories throughout the year! In 2009, she graduated at the steps of pyramids of Giza, and started University at Texas State to pursue a degree in Public Administration with a minor in Anthropology.

In 2010, we began documenting our experiences through writing, video, and photography and have continued our adventures to this day! Whether it’s a cross-country road trip or a weekend getaway, we love camping in our van Libby, paddle boarding, riding our bikes, and trying new food and brews wherever we go! We have a passion for life and all the great stories that come with it!

our journey

The story of MobilBoheme has evolved over time, and it’s origin story may be unexpected. It all started from a meetup in 2014. Kat took a trip to New York to record an original song with some friends she met through a music app. Who knew that these every-day people would travel from all over the world to collaborate with one another, and the experience was absolutely incredible! Kat documented the experience on her phone, and their song became an official song on the app. It was through this experience that inspired the idea of MobilBoheme: The practice and pursuit of an unconventional lifestyle, exploring the world through music and community.

Back in San Marcos, Paul dove into the local music and arts scene, and before we knew it, we became a part of a thriving creative community. In 2016, the news hit about a local and historical music venue, The Triple Crown, closing its doors. We collaborated with a local photographer, Christopher Paul Cordoza, and other creatives to document the venue’s final days and the community that surrounded it. Throughout that year we filmed several shows, met so many talented and inspirational people, and discovered our mission: To capture the moments, memories, and lives of people from every walk of life. To capture moments that are easily taken for granted, and the moments in between.

From 2016 through 2017, we helped create the media collaborative, SMTX Sessions. Here, we were introduced to a whole new world of community engagement, working with local small businesses, tourism groups, charities, and non-profit organizations to promote art and music in our growing city. To this day, we continue to volunteer our time, recording and livestreaming local shows, fundraisers and benefits in the spirit of supporting local artists, musicians and the surrounding community.

MobilBoheme Wedding Films

In 2018, we started filming weddings. We quickly discovered that weddings were the perfect combination of live event coverage, while also documenting the intimate, memorable celebration between two people, their families, and friends. We fell in love with the industry, being able to travel throughout the state and discovering the various wedding cultures and traditions, meeting the wide range of vendors that make every wedding unique and the incredible creative people behind the services they provide. By the end of the year, we decided it was time to officially launch MobilBoheme Wedding Films.

In 2019, we moved to New Braunfels, Texas. Since then, we have enjoyed learning about our new home, gaining new perspectives, learning about the city’s Bavarian Heritage, and are constantly finding hidden gems throughout the town! We were also welcomed by the local wedding community through the The New Braunfels Wedding Guide.

Our story continues…

In the wake of 2020, and all the things that came from it, we reflected on how much video has been a part of our own lives, and the impact it had on so many people over the years. Looking back at our work from the very beginning, from the stories we captured, to the people we met along the way, we continue our journey to capture life and all the wonders it has to offer.

In 2021, we purchased, restored and converted our very first camper van, Libby, named in honor of the tiny mascot from Kat’s trip to New York. Libby is a 1999 Dodge Ram Van with a history of its own! She was once used as a prison transport vehicle, then owned by a local River Tube Outfitter, then partially converted by a young newly-wed couple before we discovered her. We spent every available moment that summer fixing her up to help us get her on the road!

While our home base is currently in Texas, we hope that one day our path will allow us to continue doing what we love, and take our work on the road with us!  With MobilBoheme, we hope to continue our adventures, documenting and sharing stories throughout Central Texas and beyond!
